Shannon & Gayle have a lifetime together of practical experience in training and handling dogs with all types of livestock. They have spent their married life, 38 years together raising horses, dogs, sheep and cattle. They raised Appaloosa horses in the 70's and early 80's and successfully trained and showed them all over California. They now have a variety of family pleasure and driving horses. Their two daughters, Bonnie & Christy and 8 grand children enjoy the ranch, helping with chores and learning about the care and blessings of all the animals from the dogs and sheep to the horses and wild life!  

Shannon & Gayle have worked on many cattle and horse ranches in the Central Valley of California. Their experience in stock handling comes from practical everyday use. They have been breeding, showing and training Australian Shepherds since 1978 and Border Collies since 1990.

The Oxford Ranch kennel has achieved ASCA Hall of Fame Status and many HOF sires and dams. Shannon & Gayle started the stock dog training facility in 1984, and have since trained or instructed students and their dogs to well over one hundred herding titles, started through WTCH and HCH.

The Oxfords have experience training nearly every herding breed. The first Old EnglishSheepdog, Rott, GSD, Puli and Briard to earn an American Herding Title were trained at the Oxford ranch under their tutelage. Their accomplishments with their own dogs include herding titles through advanced certification on sheep, cattle and ducks and include serveral  WTCh, High in Trial , Most Versatile, and Most Promising and National Specialty Most Versatile and High in Trial Awards.

 Gayle has shown and titled her dogs in the Breed Ring as well as obedience, herding, tracking and agility and is a ASCA Obedience judge and also an AKC and AHBA Herding trial judge. Shannon trials his Aussies and Border Collies in AKC, AHBA & ASCA herding trials and is a ASCA, AHBA & AKC Herding Judge. When not trialing or judging, both Gayle & Shannon along with their daughter, Christy, do portrait & action photography at trials and shows.
